Assessment of student's learning is an integral part of teaching responsibilities. It has been estimated that teachers spend as much as a third to a half of their professional time in assessment-related activities. Many of these activities require knowledge and skills in educational and psychological measurement and evaluation. This course is intended to provide prospective English teachers with knowledge and skills necessary to effectively do the following:

1- Master the skills for preparing objective exams and explain the results.

2- Assess how well teachers teach and how well their students learn.

3- Prepare assessment tools with good psychometric properties.

4- Understand the types and indicators of measurement and apply them in practical educational case studies.

5- Analyze several types of exam questions and obtain reliability and validity.

6- Understand the importance of measurement & evaluation in educational context.
