The course aims to equip the student with basic statistical concepts that are related to psychological and educational research. It covers a wide range of topics, including: the concept of statistics, statistics’ role in educational and psychological research, types of data (continuous and discrete variables), frequency tables, visual representation of data using normal curve, polygon, and histogram, central tendency measures, variation measures, standardized scores, the correlation coefficient calculation, introduction about inferential statistics including t-test, ANOVA, multiple comparisons, nonparametric statistics, the use of statistical software. This course focuses on theoretical principles and practical application of learned content.
