Amazing Applications of AI - Spring24

This course provides an overview of Artificial Intelligence and surveys recent amazing
applications enabled by AI. AI has revolutionized many aspects of life in today’s world.
From conversational agents and smart devices to prediction of epidemics and political
orientations from online searches, AI has led to discoveries, improvement, and entire new
domains and markets to emerge in the last few decades. This course presents and
discusses one amazing application of AI every week and reflects on its benefits and
potential harms in social and economic contexts. The applications are selected from a
wide range of disciplines including medicine, finance and commerce, engineering,
education, history, politics, and psychology, among others.

If machine has surpassed humans in digital pathology, safe driving of vehicles, precision medicine, fraud detection, image recognition, opinion mining, weather forecasting, instant translation and transcription of speech to text among many others ... what is stopping the full adoption of these promising technologies?
How do we redefine the role of a human in a society and economy where automation is increasing in every area?
We discuss these and many interesting topics in the new university elective: Amazing Applications of AI. Join me and a large group of students from a wide range of specializations and register for this course designed by me for Fall 2020. 
The course aims at better understanding of Al, increased awareness of its potential and hazards, and improved science thinking and critical thinking skills.
