The course will start with discussing Rutherford scattering theory and the experiment on the discovery of the nucleus followed by a review of basic nuclear properties such as mass, size, binding energy, spin, and electromagnetic moments. The features of the nuclear force will be summarized and selected nuclear models will be discussed
