This course describes the changes to the body’s chemistry when affected by diseases. The course includes specimen
collection and processing, water and electrolytes balance, hydrogen ion homoeostasis and blood gases, the kidneys,
plasma proteins, clinical enzymology.
The course aims to produce graduates with the skills and knowledge of theory and practice that will enable them to
perform as professionals capable of making important contributions in the field of clinical biochemistry. The programe aims to further enhance students’ knowledge of clinical biochemistry, to engage with contemporary issues and debates within the discipline and to develop critical analytical skills. Successful completion of the course will enable graduates to make a more constructive contribution to the work place and to have acquired the skills & knowledge required to enhance their future career prospects. The course aims to produce graduates who work in an ethical, legal, safe and sustainable manner.
