The aim of this course is to provide an understanding of the physiological responses of human systems to exercise in an integrated manner. It addresses in details the basic physiology of muscle contraction and its neural control, exercise bioenergetics, cardiovascular and respiratory responses to exercise, thermoregulation and fluid balance during exercise and mechanisms of fatigue. It also contains in detail the integrative responses of different systems of the body during exercise to provide adequate oxygen to exercising muscles. Exercise physiology application in clinical use will be addressed during the course through practical sessions and seminar discussions.
